Its typhoon season again and we expect numbers of it until the end of this year. Here's a few tips that the Department of Health come up for all of us to stay safe.
Stay INFORMED. Listen to the radio or watch TV to get weather updates. In case of power failures, keep a battery-operated radio handy (with extra batteries).
Make HOME Repairs. Check for hazards like broken windows or detached roofing or even hole on the roof. Have them fixed before typhoon comes.
Prepare CANDLES and FLASHLIGHTS. You don't want to caught in the dark especially during the typhoon period when the electricity conks out.
STOCK-UP on FOOD and DRINKS. Load up on canned goods and bottled water. Make sure you have all you need so you won't have to go outdoors.
CLOSE everything. Lock windows and doors to prevent wind, rain and even thieves from getting in during typhoon.
SWITCH-OFF the gas. Turn off your gas tank to prevent any accidental leaks.
MOVE your things to higher ground. In case floodwaters enter your home, move what you can to the second floor or high areas of your home to prevent them from getting destroyed.
STAY dry and safe. Bring umbrellas, raincoats, jackets and a first aid kit in case of emergencies.
